Description
This cinnamon apple cider crush cocktail is a fall favorite! All the flavors of fall are in one glass: apple cider, citrus juices, and cinnamon! It’s cozy and refreshing at the same time.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Cinnamon Syrup:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3 cinnamon sticks
For the Cinnamon Sugar:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
For Two Cocktails:
- Ice
- 1/4 cup cinnamon simple syrup
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1/2 cup vodka
- Juice of 1 orange (roughly 1/3 cup)
- Juice of 1 grapefruit (roughly 1/2 cup)
- Orange or grapefruit slices, for optional garnish
- Apple slices, for optional garnish
Instructions
For the Cinnamon Syrup:
- Bring the sugar and water to a simmer in a saucepan. Simmer for 2 minutes, stirring gently, or until all the sugar dissolves.
- Add in the cinnamon sticks and remove the pan from the heat. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature. The cinnamon sticks will steep in the syrup as it cools.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge and use as needed. Syrup will keep in the fridge for about a week.
For the Cinnamon Sugar:
Whisk together the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and place on a plate or in a shallow bowl.
For the Cocktails:
- Moisten the rims of the glasses with an orange slice and then dip in the cinnamon sugar to coat the rims.
- Fill the glasses with ice and set aside.
- To a shaker filled with ice, add the cinnamon simple syrup, apple cider, vodka, and the citrus juices. Shake vigorously for a few seconds to chill and mix the ingredients.
- Pour the mixture over the ice in the glasses, garnish as desired, and serve immediately. I like my glass to have both apple and orange slices and a tiny sprinkling of ground cinnamon. So pretty!
Notes
If a nonalcoholic version is preferred, simply omit the vodka and add a bit more apple cider to the mix.
