Description

These Fresh Blueberry Margaritas are as delicious as they are pretty! Fresh blueberry syrup is shaken with tequila, triple sec, and fresh lime juice for a spectacularly summery sip.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Blueberry Syrup:

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup water

For 1 Cocktail:

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 0.5 oz orange liqueur (triple sec, Grand Marnier, etc)
  • 1.5 oz blueberry syrup
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • Salt and lime slices/wedges, for rimming the glasses
  • Fresh blueberries, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

For the Blueberry Syrup:

  1. Combine the berries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan and set over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a simmer and cook, mashing the berries gently with the back of a spoon, for about 10 minutes.
  3. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.
  4. Once cool, pass the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer to remove the solids; discard the solids. This is an optional step – see note below.
  5. The syrup can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to one week.

For 1 Cocktail:

  1. To a shaker filled with ice, add the tequila, orange liqueur, syrup, and lime juice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds to combine and thoroughly chill the ingredients.
  2. Rub a lime wedge around the rims of the serving glass and then place the rim in a shallow dish or plate of salt.
  3. Fill the glass with ice and then strain the margarita into the glass. Garnish with a lime wedge/slice and more blueberries. Serve immediately.

Notes

Straining out the blueberry solids from the syrup is an optional step – you can definitely leave them in! Just know your resulting margaritas will have bits of actual blueberry floating throughout. It’s a preference thing!
