Blackberry Mochas

  • Author: Molly
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 mocha [w/ extra syrup] (easily multiplied) 1x

Description

These Blackberry Mochas are a sweet and unique twist on a cup of coffee. If you love the flavor of chocolate-covered berries, these mochas are for you! Easy to make, decadent and sweet, and every bit as delicious as anything from the coffee shop!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Blackberry Mocha Syrup:

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup blackberry simple syrup (I use this one)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of cinnamon

For One Mocha (easily multiplied):

  • 24 shots brewed espresso (or strong coffee)
  • 12 tablespoons blackberry mocha syrup (add to taste)
  • 6 oz milk of choice
  • Whipped cream, for garnish
  • Fresh blackberries, for garnish

Instructions

For the Blackberry Mocha Syrup:

  1. Combine the water, blackberry syrup, cocoa powder, salt, and cinnamon in a small saucepan and set over medium heat.
  2. Whisking constantly, bring the mixture to a simmer, and cook for a few minutes until the cocoa powder completely dissolves.
  3. Remove from heat and set aside.

For One Mocha:

  1. Brew your espresso and pour it into a coffee mug. Whisk in the blackberry mocha syrup (start with a couple tablespoons – you can always add more).
  2. Top the glass off with steamed milk of choice. I use my Nespresso aeroccino for this, but you can also use a hand frother with hot milk, or whisk milk in a pan on the stove until it is steamed and frothy.
  3. Garnish with whipped cream and fresh blackberries. Serve immediately.
