Description
These Dark Chocolate Cherry Protein Bites are the perfect mouthful of nourishing, heart-healthy ingredients that taste like a sweet treat! Perfect for a quick bite on the go, a pre-workout snack, or any time a sweet tooth strikes!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup natural creamy peanut butter (feel free to sub with any nut butter you prefer)
- 1/4 cup maple syrup (can also use honey)
- 1 1/4 cups rolled oats
- 1/4 cup chia seeds
- 1/4 cup ground flaxseed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup dried cherries
- 1/2 cup dried medjool dates, pitted and chopped
- 1/2 cup mini dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Combine the peanut butter and maple syrup in a large bowl, whisking until smooth and creamy.
- Stir in the oats, chia and flax, cinnamon, and salt.
- Lastly, fold in the dried cherries, dates, and chocolate chips. Mix until everything is well combined.
- Place the bowl in the fridge so the mixture can firm up slightly, about 15 minutes.
- Roll the mixture into balls, roughly 2 tablespoons each.
- Store the bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
Notes
- This recipe works best with natural, “drippy” nut butter. You can use any nut butter you prefer.
- Feel free to swap out the dried fruit here. Dried cranberries or blueberries would work great in place of the cherries here.
- The chia and flaxseeds can be swapped and subbed for one another. I use a three-seed mix from Whole Foods that has chia, flax, and hemp hearts.
