These Dark Chocolate Cherry Protein Bites are the perfect mouthful of nourishing, heart-healthy ingredients that taste like a sweet treat! Perfect for a quick bite on the go, a pre-workout snack, or any time a sweet tooth strikes!

Who needs a quick snack?

My hand is in the air! I am always on the hunt for good snacks that don’t make me feel terrible, and these Dark Chocolate Cherry Protein Bites are just the thing!

Loaded with nourishing, heart-healthy ingredients that pack an energy punch, these little balls of flavor are so delicious and ridiculously easy to throw together.

They feature a combination of peanut butter, maple syrup, oats, cinnamon, flax/chia seeds, dried cherries, dried dates, and dark chocolate chips. The flavors are so good together, and the texture is like the best, chewiest granola bar you can imagine.

I love to make a batch of these each week and keep them in the fridge for a quick pre-workout snack or when I’m craving something sweet. Dan isn’t the biggest fan of anything with an oat-heavy flavor or texture, and he loves these too.

Healthy, nourishing, and packed with protein and fiber – these really are the perfect little bite. And like I said, they couldn’t be easier to throw together. No baking involved!

Ingredients You Need to Make These Dark Chocolate Cherry Protein Bites:

  • Natural creamy peanut butter (feel free to sub with any nut butter you prefer)
  • Maple syrup (can also use honey)
  • Rolled oats
  • Chia seeds
  • Ground flaxseed
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Salt
  • Dried cherries
  • Dried medjool dates
  • Mini dark chocolate chips

How to Make These Dark Chocolate Cherry Protein Bites:

  • Combine the peanut butter and maple syrup in a large bowl, whisking until smooth and creamy.
  • Stir in the oats, chia and flax, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Lastly, fold in the dried cherries, dates, and chocolate chips. Mix until everything is well combined.
  • Place the bowl in the fridge so the mixture can firm up slightly, about 15 minutes.
  • Roll the mixture into balls, roughly 2 tablespoons each.
  • Store the bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

We’re obsessed with these. So sweet, so chewy, and so satisfying when that sweet tooth hits.

Snack time is the best time.

Description

These Dark Chocolate Cherry Protein Bites are the perfect mouthful of nourishing, heart-healthy ingredients that taste like a sweet treat! Perfect for a quick bite on the go, a pre-workout snack, or any time a sweet tooth strikes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup natural creamy peanut butter (feel free to sub with any nut butter you prefer)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (can also use honey)
  • 1 1/4 cups rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup ground flaxseed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup dried medjool dates, pitted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup mini dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Combine the peanut butter and maple syrup in a large bowl, whisking until smooth and creamy.
  2. Stir in the oats, chia and flax, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Lastly, fold in the dried cherries, dates, and chocolate chips. Mix until everything is well combined.
  4. Place the bowl in the fridge so the mixture can firm up slightly, about 15 minutes.
  5. Roll the mixture into balls, roughly 2 tablespoons each.
  6. Store the bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Notes

  • This recipe works best with natural, “drippy” nut butter. You can use any nut butter you prefer.
  • Feel free to swap out the dried fruit here. Dried cranberries or blueberries would work great in place of the cherries here.
  • The chia and flaxseeds can be swapped and subbed for one another. I use a three-seed mix from Whole Foods that has chia, flax, and hemp hearts.
