Description

These Smoky Beer Burgers with Gouda & Mustard-Horseradish Mayo feature epic savory flavors in every bite! Beer, cheese, and mustard are a match made in heaven, and these burgers showcase this combo in the most mouth-watering way! Tender, juicy burgers flavored with beer and topped with gouda cheese and a mustard-horseradish mayo — seriously, it doesn’t get much better.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Burgers:

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 oz beer (I like a lager style for this)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • Sliced gouda cheese (you could also use smoked gouda for extra smokiness)

For the Mayo:

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Serving:

  • Burger buns
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Pickles

Instructions

For the Burgers:

  1. Combine all the ingredients for the burgers in a mixing bowl, being careful to not overwork the meat. Form the mixture into four equal patties.
  2. Heat a grill to medium-high and add the burgers. Cook for 4-6 minutes per side, depending on how “well done” you prefer your burgers. During the last minute of cooking, top each burger with gouda cheese and close the lid of the grill so the cheese melts. Remove from the grill and tent the burgers with foil until ready to serve.

For the Mayo:

Whisk together all the ingredients and season, to taste. This can be made ahead and kept in the fridge until serving time.

To Serve:

Serve the burgers on buns with desired toppings and the mayo.
