Hi, friends! How was your week? We had another busy one. On top of regular life, Kieran got an ear infection and had oozy eyes for a few days. A trip to the doctor ensued, and he’s medicated and on the mend. Even while not feeling well, he is still always (ALWAYS!) on the go. Always running everywhere he goes, always playing, always full of energy. And while I love that, it can take a toll when everyone in the house is a bit under the weather.
It FINALLY stopped raining here this week, and while I have been trying to soak up as much outside time as possible, our seasonal allergies are kicking all of our butts. I’m currently sucking on a throat lozenge in the hopes that it will help clear up my sinuses a little bit and ease my scratchy throat. Poor Kieran is allergic to tree pollen too, just like his mama. Good news is that the trees are almost done, so we should be feeling better within the next few weeks.
Another interesting development around these parts: Kieran has a new movie obsession. While I try to limit his TV time each day, he recently discovered Monsters Inc., and if we put it on, he’ll actually sit and watch it for 30-40 minutes or so (when he really wasn’t feeling well, he sat for almost the whole movie!). This has never happened with anything before. It’s actually quite adorable because he clearly has favorite parts already and gets VERY excited/happy when they come on. So cute. Only problem? He’s so obsessed with it that he won’t let us watch anything else if he’s around. I can’t even have the TV on for anything else. He points to it on the screen and “tells” me in baby babble that he wants to watch it. Incessantly. I’m told this will only get worse as he gets older? I remember doing the same thing with Disney movies: Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King…just to name a few. In fact, I could probably still quote every word/song from those movies. So I get that this is a thing.
Anywho.
Do you have fun plans this weekend? We’re spending some time with good friends and their baby and also tackling some gardening projects that have been on hold with all the rain these past few weeks. Despite my black thumb, I’m attempting to plant peonies AND hydrangea bushes this year. I’m so excited. I think I can do it, guys! Oh, and my usual planters full of herbs and lower maintenance flowers…because those I can handle. For sure.
Spring time is one of my favorite food seasons. The internet explodes with delicious-looking, produce-packed dishes. Here are a few of my faves from this week:
This GORGEOUS Graduation Cake is so fun and pretty! I love the sparklers.
This Lemon Truffle Arugula Pizza is so up my alley. Arugula salad on pizza is one of my most fav things…the addition of truffle is making me swoon.
These Thai Coconut Curry Shrimp Noodle Bowls are so calling my name, especially with the current super scratchy throat situation.
This Ultra Soft Sticky Rice Bread looks incredible. Definitely intrigued!
These Brown Butter Madeleines with Smashed Raspberry Creme Fraiche are cute and gorgeous at the same time (not to mention drool worthy!).
This Strawberry Avocado Spinach Salad with Chicken looks like weeknight meal perfection. Love all the color!
These Chili Cheese Hash Brown Waffles look and sound sooo comforting. Love this idea.
This Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treat Cake is such an ingenious idea!
And, in case you missed things around here, we have a lovely Watermelon Salty Dog cocktail (seriously, my newest fav) which is a nice alternative to a margarita, and a light, impressive-but-easy spring/summer pasta dish in the way of this Pesto Linguine with Scallops and Blistered Tomatoes. All good stuff.
Happy Friday! Xoxo
