These Air Fryer Sticky Salmon Bowls are a quick and easy way to prepare salmon at home. Savory-sweet salmon is cooked in an air fryer until crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside, served over sushi rice, and topped with a creamy spicy sauce. This meal is both nourishing and packed with flavor!

Boy oh boy, do I have a delicious meal to tell you all about today.

These Air Fryer Sticky Salmon Bowls have become a weeknight staple in our house, and EVERYONE loves them.

Once you cook salmon this way, you may never go back. It is so flavorful and delicious AND quick and easy to prepare. Can’t beat that.

One of my culinary goals is always to eat more fish. And I have to admit, it’s a struggle sometimes! Whether it’s an issue with obtaining quality fish or figuring out ways to cook it that my whole family will enjoy, it can be somewhat of a challenge.

This recipe has changed that for me! Salmon is easy to get and this method of cooking it is so easy and delicious, I may never make it any other way.

Bonus: my kids love this dish. I always feel like I’m on top of the world when that happens (solidarity to any other parents out there with picky kids).

These bowls emulate some of the flavors of sushi but in a much simpler way. It’s sort of like eating a sushi bowl, but with some of the flavors tweaked in my own way. Mainly, so my kids will eat it.

The salmon itself is cut into cubes, marinated in a sweet-tangy soy sauce mixture, and then air fried until crispy and caramelized on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside.

I like to serve it over sushi rice with cucumbers and avocado and drizzled with a spicy creamy sauce. It is heavenly!

Ingredients You Need to Make These Air Fryer Sticky Salmon Bowls:

For the Salmon:

  • Soy sauce (or tamari / coconut aminos)
  • Toasted sesame oil
  • Grated garlic
  • Grated ginger
  • Maple syrup (or honey)
  • Salmon filets, skin removed, and cut into 1-inch cubes

For the Spicy Sauce:

  • Greek yogurt
  • Mayo
  • Sriracha hot sauce
  • Hot honey (or regular honey)
  • Toasted sesame oil

For Serving:

  • Cooked sushi rice (or rice of choice)
  • Cucumber
  • Avocado
  • Scallions
  • Toasted sesame seeds

How to Make These Air Fryer Sticky Salmon Bowls:

Recipe Hint:

Before I start the rest of the recipe, I get my sushi rice cooking in my rice cooker so that it is warm and ready for me when it’s time to serve.

For the Salmon:

  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and maple syrup.
  • Add the salmon cubes to the marinade and toss gently to combine. Let sit for about 10 minutes.
  • Preheat an airfryer to 400°F. Spray or brush the basket with oil and then add roughly half the salmon cubes (it will depend on the size of your air-fryer basket. Do a single layer of salmon without overcrowding. For me, I can get it done in two batches).
  • Air fry for 6 minutes. Remove the salmon cubes from the basket and set aside. Repeat with the remaining half of the salmon cubes.

For the Spicy Sauce:

  • While the salmon is marinating/cooking, make the spicy sauce by whisking together all the ingredients in a bowl.
  • Thin with a little water until it reaches a drizzly consistency. Season, to taste, with salt.
  • This can be made ahead and stored in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

To Serve:

  • Spoon the rice into bowls and top with the salmon.
  • Top with cucumber, avocado, scallions, and toasted sesame seeds. Drizzle over the spicy sauce.
  • Enjoy while the rice and salmon are warm.
