I am going a bit out of my comfort zone today.
Usually, I take my coffee pretty simple. Boring, if you will.
Cream and maybe some sweetness. Maybe some chai spice or cinnamon sprinkled over top, depending on my mood and the season. When I’m feeling really indulgent, I top it with whipped cream from the can.
It’s the only way I’ll eat the stuff. True story.
But today, I’m going out on a limb with this latte recipe. We’re making caramel apple lattes!
This sort of coffee drink is something I would have as a my second or afternoon coffee of the day. I like things as simple as possible first thing in the morning.
Now, I’m sure some of you have had the new apple crisp macchiato from Starbucks by now. I have not, so I can’t make any true comparisons or call this a copycat recipe, but I would imagine it would be somewhat similar? Maybe I’ll get one this week to see.
THIS latte is so, so simple to whip up and it’s just darn delicious. And fun. And there’s nothing wrong with a little coffee fun now and then.
To make this, all we do is stir together a quick little apple caramel sauce using store-bought apple butter and caramel sauce. That’s it. So stinking easy.
Just mix it up and then put it in your glass or mug and top off with the hot espresso. Make sure to whisk it into the hot espresso really well so that the flavors incorporate throughout the whole drink.
Top off with steamed milk, some whipped cream, and maybe an additional drizzle of caramel. Oh! And I love a little cinnamon dusted over top.
It may sound odd, but this latte is so delicious. It’s cozy and sweet without being overly spiced. It has a little bit of apple essence, but nothing that makes it taste weird. Promise!
Think of it like having coffee on the side of your apple muffin or apple pie. The flavors actually work really nicely together.

- 2 oz brewed espresso (or strong coffee)
- 4 oz steamed milk of choice

- Additional caramel, for serving
- Ground cinnamon, for dusting
Instructions
For the Caramel Apple Sauce:
Whisk the apple butter and caramel together in a bowl until smooth and well combined.
For One Latte:
- Spoon the caramel apple sauce into the bottom of a serving glass or mug.
- Top off with the hot espresso and stir well to melt the caramel apple mixture in the hot espresso.

Notes
This recipe makes enough caramel apple sauce for 3-4 lattes, depending on how much you use. If you want to make one serving of the sauce, combine 1 tablespoon each of the apple butter and caramel in the bottom of your glass/mug. Or make a bunch and keep it in the fridge for lattes all week long! This recipe is easily doubled or even quadrupled.
