This Pepperoni Vodka Skillet Pizza with Hot Honey is an easy at-home take on a deep-dish style pizza that happens all in one skillet. Spicy vodka sauce, pepperoni, cheese, and hot honey come together to make this one gloriously flavorful pizza experience.
Oops, I did it again. I made another skillet pizza that is TO DIE FOR.
This Pepperoni Vodka Skillet Pizza with Hot Honey is simply incredible. It is ridiculously easy to make (30 minutes or less!), has the most amazing deep dish flavor and texture, and features the heavenly combo of spicy-sweet.
Yesssss. Please.
I make skillet pizzas with some regularity in our household. My sister first taught me the method a year or so ago, and I would say that we eat this about once a month. Or a version of it.
This brussels and bacon version is insane if pepperoni isn’t your thing (it normally isn’t mine, which just shows how freaking good this pizza is if I’m willingly putting pepperoni on it).
I love that I can accomplish a deep dish experience with very little effort or clean up. All you need is a well-seasoned cast iron skillet and some store-bought (bonus points if you use homemade) pizza dough to create some serious pizza magic.
And the flavors here? Not at all my typical pizza choice but definitely one I can’t seem to get enough of!
We have a quick and easy homemade vodka sauce that we spice up with red pepper flakes. If you’re short on time, use a store-bought vodka sauce. Whatever you have to do to get this pizza in your face as fast as possible.
Once the sauce is made, all we have to do is layer the flavors in the skillet.
I like to season the oil the dough cooks in. This creates an incredibly crispy and flavorful crust on the bottom.
Then we layer on the vodka sauce, mozzarella cheese, pecorino or parmesan cheese, mini pepporoni, and more seasonings. Once the crust is crispy on the bottom, transfer the whole thing to the broiler for a couple minutes to cook the top and melt all that cheese.
All that’s left to do is drizzle over hot honey and fresh basil. And drool. That’s an inevitable step to this process.
Ingredients You Need for This Pepperoni Vodka Skillet Pizza with Hot Honey
For the Spicy Vodka Sauce:
- Vodka
- Marinara sauce (I love Rao’s but you can certainly use homemade)
- Red pepper flakes
- Heavy cream or half-and-half
For the Pizza:
- Olive oil
- Seasonings: dried Italian herbs, garlic salt, garlic powder, kosher salt, and red pepper flakes
- Pizza dough (I use store-bought)
- The vodka sauce
- Diced mozzarella cheese (the low-moisture blocks are best for this recipe – I often use part-skim and don’t notice a difference)
- Pecorino or parmesan cheese
- Mini pepperoni (regular size will work too)
- Hot honey, for serving
- Fresh basil leaves, for serving
How To Make This Pepperoni Vodka Skillet Pizza with Hot Honey:
For the Spicy Vodka Sauce:
- Add the vodka to a small saucepan and set over medium heat on the stove. Bring to a boil and cook until the vodka is mostly reduced.
- Stir in the sauce and bring to a gentle simmer. Once the sauce is lightly simmering, stir in the red pepper flakes and continue simmering for a few more minutes.
- Stir in the cream. Cook for a few more minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce is slightly thickened.
For the Pizza:
- Turn on the oven broiler. Place an 8- or 9-inch cast iron skillet on the stove over medium heat.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out into a circle roughly 9 inches in diameter and ½-inch thick.
- To the hot skillet, drizzle in half the olive oil, dried herbs, garlic salt, garlic powder, salt, and red pepper flakes.
- Carefully place the dough in the hot skillet, pressing it into the edges. Drizzle the remaining oil and seasonings over the top.
- Cook the pizza in the skillet for 5 minutes or until it is beginning to crisp and turn golden brown on the bottom.
- Once the crust is deeply golden brown on the bottom, add the toppings: a layer of the vodka sauce, the cheeses, and mini pepperoni. Season everything with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Transfer the skillet under the broiler for 1-2 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden in spots and the crust is golden and crisp – watch it carefully as this happens quickly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and drizzle with hot honey and garnish with fresh basil leaves. After allowing the pizza to set for a few minutes, slice and serve.

Notes
- You can also make this pizza in a 10-inch skillet – this will yield a thinner crust. I prefer the 8 or 9-inch skillet because it feels more like a deep dish style pizza with a thick, crispy crust.
- To save time, you can use a store-bought vodka sauce and spice it up as you see fit. Rao’s is my favorite brand.
