Oooo I have the best drink to tell you about today!
A super crisp and refreshing yet seasonal cocktail that screams fall.
Apple cider cosmos!
This drink is a twist on Carrie Bradshaw’s favorite classic cosmo, with the flavors still being bright and a touch tangy but with cinnamon simple syrup and apple cider becoming the stars.
It really is a perfect mix of sweet and tart, tangy and spiced. I love it.
It starts with a cinnamon syrup that couldn’t be easier to make. Equal parts water and sugar, cinnamon sticks, and about 10 minutes on the stove is all it takes to make this delicious syrup. You can use it in this cocktail or many, many others. It’s spiced and sweet and lovely.
The rest of the drink comes together in minutes. We have apple cider, fresh lime (or lemon) juice, vodka, orange liqueur and the simple syrup. That’s it.
Throw it all in a cocktail shaker with some ice, give it a good shake, and then strain it into martini glasses. Garnish with a little cinnamon stick or a slice of apple and ENJOY.
Seriously. That’s all there is to it.
This is the perfect sipper for ushering in fall and all the cozy flavors.
And ya know what, I think Carrie Bradshaw would approve.
Apple Cider Cosmos
- Total Time: 15 minutes
- Yield: 2 servings (with extra syrup, easily multiplied) 1x
Description
These Apple Cider Cosmos are a lovely toast to the fall season! They’re spiced and sweet with fresh tanginess from citrus and orange liqueur. I think Carrie Bradshaw would approve of this riff on her classic fave.
Ingredients
For the Cinnamon Simple Syrup:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
For Two Cosmos:
- 2 oz cinnamon simple syrup (add more or less to taste)
- 4 oz apple cider
- 3 oz vodka
- 1 oz orange liqueur (I love Cointreau)
- 1 1/2 oz fresh lime or lemon juice (roughly 1 lime or 1/2 lemon)
Instructions
For the Cinnamon Simple Syrup:
- Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and set over medium heat.
- Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer and add the cinnamon sticks.
- Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until all the sugar is dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool with the cinnamon sticks steeping in it.
- Transfer syrup to a mason jar (or other airtight container) and store in the fridge for a later time if not making the cocktails immediately.
For Two Cosmos:
- To a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the cooled cinnamon syrup, apple cider, vodka, orange liqueur, and lime/lemon juice.
- Cover and shake the mixture vigorously for 30 seconds until everything is well combined and thoroughly chilled.
- Strain into two coupe or martini glasses and serve. You can garnish with apple slices or cinnamon sticks, if you prefer.
Notes
The cinnamon simple syrup will keep in a mason jar (or other sealed container) in the fridge for up to one week.

This is so delicious! I followed the recipe the first time I made it and then I began to experiment.😉 I had an almost full bottle of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey and I made the recipe with that instead of the vodka. It was amazing!!!!! I also substituted fresh tangerine juice for the orange liqueur. So good!!! The original recipe is fabulous but this is a drink that is fun to play around with and use other ingredients to tweak it.
