I have the coziest cup of coffee to tell you all about today.
Homemade Blackberry Mochas!
Yes, blackberry mochas are a thing. Or at least they are now. And they are DELICIOUS.
I have always been a fan of fruity flavors in coffee. I love blueberry coffee, and raspberry coffee, and even a spiced orange variety! This isn’t my first rodeo when it comes to infusing my favorite thing on earth (coffee) with fruity decadence.
If you love the flavor of chocolate-covered berries, this mocha is for you!
I know a lot of people out there might be thinking this is an odd way to flavor your coffee, but trust me, it works so well. I actually had a matcha latte at a local coffee shop not that long ago and it was infused with blackberry.
I quickly became obsessed with the idea. I bought some blackberry syrup (this one is SO good), and started concocting my own coffee and tea drinks at home.
That is how this mocha came to be.
Because we’re using a premade blackberry syrup for the base of our mocha, this recipe is REALLY easy. It takes minutes to make – in the time it takes for you to brew espresso and froth your milk, your blackberry mocha syrup will be ready.
And that’s perfect because nobody wants to wait around for coffee.
Ingredients You Need to Make These Blackberry Mochas:
- Water
- Blackberry simple syrup (I use this one)
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
- Salt
- Cinnamon
- Espresso (or strong coffee)
- Milk of choice
- Whipped cream and fresh blackberries — optional garnishes
How to Make These Blackberry Mochas:
Start with the Blackberry Mocha Syrup:
- Combine the water, blackberry syrup, cocoa powder, salt, and cinnamon in a small saucepan and set over medium heat.
- Whisking constantly, bring the mixture to a simmer, and cook for a few minutes until the cocoa powder completely dissolves.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
For the Mocha:
- Brew your espresso and pour it into a coffee mug.
- Whisk in the blackberry mocha syrup (start with a couple tablespoons – you can always add more).
- Top the glass off with steamed milk of choice.
- Garnish with whipped cream and fresh blackberries. Serve immediately.
