I’m declaring this Limoncello Berry Hugo Spritz the drink of the summer! It is light, bright, lemony, and a touch sweet with notes of fresh mint and elderflower liqueur. It is super refreshing, and I can’t stop making it. Everything you want in an easy summer cocktail!
I have found our summer cocktail.
This Limoncello Berry Hugo Spritz is EVERYTHING I want in a summer drink. It takes 5 minutes to put together (no simple syrup required), is light and bright, a touch sweet, a touch fizzy…it’s really just perfection for the warmer months.
Since Memorial Day always seems like the unofficial start to summer, I thought it was the most appropriate time to tell you about this new discovery.
A traditional hugo spritz is one of my favorite things this time of year. It is made up of elderflower liqueur, fresh mint, lemon or lime juice, prosecco, and sparkling water. Incredibly easy to make and lovely on the flavor.
Plus: I am a sucker for anything with bubbles in the warm months. It just feels right.
This version turns the volume up JUST a touch with the addition of sweet limoncello and frozen berries.
Think hugo spritz meets boozy berry lemonade. Yesssss.
I’ve been making this (or some version of it) almost every weekend for a month now. Like I said: this is my summer 2024 cocktail!
Let’s get into how to make this beauty.
Ingredients You Need To Make This Limoncello Berry Hugo Spritz:
- Fresh mint
- Elderflower liqueur
- Limoncello
- Ice
- Frozen mixed berries (not defrosted – keep frozen)
- Lemon
- Prosecco
- Sparkling water
How to Make This Limoncello Berry Hugo Spritz:
- To a wine glass, add the mint and elderflower liqueur. Gently muddle the mint leaves.
- Add the limoncello and then the ice and frozen mixed berries.
- Top off with the prosecco, then the sparkling water. Gently stir to combine all the ingredients and then garnish with lemon slices and another sprig of mint. Serve immediately.
- I have made this cocktail both with and without the mint – it is delicious either way! The mint is key in a traditional hugo spritz, but just know that this will taste wonderful without it. Mint is optional!
- You can use any berry here you like. Frozen is nice because it helps keep the drink cold and will infuse the drink more slowly with berry flavor.
